Choosing the right stone

We work with a wide range of granites, limestones and sandstones, each with its own character. Here are the most commonly chosen. We'll guide you through the decision.

Quarried in Brazil, this stone has a moody, atmospheric quality — deep blue-grey tones shifting through dark cloud-like movement. It has a quiet drama to it that suits a memorial of real distinction. Polishes to a beautiful depth that changes character entirely in different light.

One of Scotland's own — quarried in Aberdeenshire, the same region that supplied stone for Balmoral Castle. Its bold red and dark brown crystals give it a rich, unmistakably Scottish character. Exceptionally hard and durable, it weathers beautifully through decades of Scottish weather.

Blue Pearl Granite

Blue Pearl Granite

Quarried on the west coast of Norway, Blue Pearl is one of the most distinctive granites in the world. Large silvery-blue crystals catch and reflect light in a way that makes the stone appear to move — no two slabs are ever quite the same. A truly special choice for a memorial that will always turn heads.

Cat's Eye Granite

A dark, brooding granite with deep burgundy and black tones that seem to shift as the light changes across the stone's surface — an effect that gives the material its striking name. Quarried in India, it holds a strong polish and presents beautifully with gold or silver lettering.

Deep Dark Grey Granite

One of the most versatile choices we offer. A very fine-grained, near-black granite with a subtle flecked texture that gives it depth without distraction. Lettering — in any colour — stands crisply and clearly against this surface. Understated, dependable, and always right.

Emerald Pearl Granite

Another exceptional Norwegian stone, Emerald Pearl has a deep, almost black-green base scattered with iridescent labradorite crystals that flash blue, green and gold as the light moves. No photograph does it full justice — it needs to be seen in person to be appreciated. One of the most admired stones we work with.

Indian Aurora Granite

A richly toned Indian granite where deep burgundy, warm copper and charcoal grey flow together in broad, sweeping bands. The movement in this stone is its defining characteristic — no two memorials will look the same. Suited to those who want something warm and organic rather than cool and uniform.

Indian Black Granite

Pure, deep and resolute. This fine-grained black granite from India takes one of the highest polishes available in natural stone — its surface becomes almost mirror-like. Gold and silver lettering stand with absolute clarity against it. The most popular black granite we use, and with good reason.

Italian Carrara Marble

Quarried in the mountains of Tuscany, Carrara marble has been used by sculptors and stonemasons for over two thousand years — Michelangelo chose it for his greatest works. Its luminous white surface with soft grey veining is unmistakably refined and beautiful. It requires a little more care than granite over the years, but for those who prize elegance above all, nothing compares.

Quarried in India, this is red granite at its most vivid and saturated — a deep, jewel-like crimson with dark mineral flecks that add depth and texture. The name says it all. Bold and beautiful, it carries gold lettering with particular elegance.

Quarried in Andhra Pradesh, India, Star Galaxy is exactly what its name promises — a dense black stone scattered with golden and copper-coloured mineral flecks that resemble a night sky scattered with stars. It is genuinely unlike any other granite. Polished to a high shine, the effect is breath-taking.

Tan Brown Granite

A warm, rich Indian granite where deep burgundy and dark brown tones are scattered through an almost black base in rounded, pebble-like formations. The texture gives it a tactile, organic quality — it feels ancient and grounded. A comforting stone that wears exceptionally well.

Tropical Green Granite
